Home Sleep Study
A home sleep study is a sleep assessment completed in your own home rather than in a sleep clinic.
Home sleep studies are widely used and are an effective, non-invasive and straightforward method to assess for sleep disorders.
The small monitoring device, about the same size as the palm of your hand, is fitted with sensors and electrodes.
These record important information overnight, including breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate and brain activity.
Our modern home sleep study devices use the same advanced technology used during in-laboratory sleep studies, providing accurate results while allowing you to sleep in a familiar environment.
The device is collected from our office within Northern Beaches Hospital in the afternoon and returned the next morning.
To qualify for a Medicare rebate, you will need a GP or specialist referral, meet the criteria on two questionnaires, being the STOP-Bang and Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and be older than eighteen.
Copies of these questionnaires can be obtained from our office or from the link below.
Please contact our office with the following form completed to make an appointment.

Six-Minute Walk Tests
Six-minute walk tests are also available to assist in the assessment of respiratory function and exercise tolerance.
This test measures how far a patient can walk in six minutes and may assist your doctor in assessing functional capacity and response to treatment.
Overnight Oximetry
Overnight oximetry is also available at Northern Beaches Respiratory and Sleep.
Overnight oximetry records your oxygen levels while you sleep and may assist in the assessment of sleep-related breathing concerns or overnight oxygen desaturation.
